Troy Boys Basketball Youth Camp is next week!! Only a few days left to register!
- Please come early on Monday to sign in.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Leave your ball at home.
- Pizza and drinks will be provided at 6:15 p.m.
- Guest speakers every day!
The Troy Boys Basketball Youth Camp is being led by Head Coach Richard Roper. Coach Roper brings 19 years of head varsity experience to Troy after numerous championship runs at Nogales and Gahr High Schools. He is excited to now teach the game here at Troy High School.
Coach Roper will be supported by the Troy Boys Varsity Team players.
Guest Speakers
Monday: Miles Haywood, Troy High School Varsity Guard
- Four year Varsity Player/Team Captain
- First Team All North Hills League
- Will speak on what it takes to compete as a varsity player at a high level while maintaining a high academic standard. Will discuss balancing athletic/student balance
Tuesday: Dr. Tim Bias
Dr. Tim Bias is the Director of College and Career Success Programs for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, with more than 25 years of experience in education. Throughout his career, Dr. Bias has worked across the country supporting educators in preparing their students for success in college, careers, and life.
During the session, athletes will explore:
- How today’s college, career, and athletic landscape is changing faster than ever, creating new opportunities and new challenges.
- How the habits developed through athletics prepares them for success in their future.
- How to better understand their interests, strengths, and passions as they begin exploring future opportunities and pathways.
- Practical steps they can take now to prepare for college, careers, entrepreneurship, and lifelong success.
Wednesday: Marvin Bragg
- Played for Coach Roper at Gahr High School. He was the 2017 San Gabriel Valley League MVP.
- Played at American University, Division One
- Coached at Coppin State University, Division One
- Head Coach at Huntington Park High School
- Currently Associate Head Coach Valley Christian High School
- Coach Bragg will speak on what it takes to succeed in high school both on and off the basketball floor. He will also talk about what playing in college requires.
- Coach Bragg will speak about the game through the lens of a player and now a coach.
Thursday: Luke Marshburn, Troy High School Varsity Guard
- 4.8 GPA, Troy Tech Program
- First Team All North Hills League
- Will talk about balancing athletic workload while taking high honors courses, and what it takes to succeed as a student athlete
